About
Lerina van der Westhuizen
Harriet B. Braiker famously said that the art of clinical diagnosis lies in the ability to ask the right questions. Lerina’s passion for psychology arose in the 1990s from the tragic Rwandan genocide, and release of Mr Nelson Mandela. The question of how we as a society heal and turn anger into reconciliation led her to an immense desire to understand the mind and hopefully, help it heal. The field of psychology provides enormous insight into who we are as individuals and how our individuality is shaped by our culture and society. If we do not ask the right questions, we will miss the true answers.
Lerina registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in 1998. Following a period in the government sector, Lerina moved to the private sector where she worked as a psychologist for a practice in Medi-Clinic Welkom. After a 12-year journey in the Gold Fields, Lerina relocated to Bloemfontein where she currently practices at BloemWell in Langenhovenpark.
